4th Special Session Public Education Funding Offered by House Bill 1
In 2023, the Texas House Committee on Educational Opportunity and Enrichment offered recommendations to:
Ensure all Texas students enjoy equal educational opportunity and the freedom to obtain a quality education, regardless of circumstance;
Improve outcomes for Texas public school students and meaningfully support educators and educational institutions; and
Modernize assessment and accountability measures for Texas schools educating K-12 students.
In November 2023, Chairman Brad Buckley authored House Bill 1 with the aim of achieving these three goals. The financial impact of the bill was published by the committee as a PDF, here.
